Join us in screening the documentary, JUST GENDER, narrated by Tony and Emmy-award winning actress Bebe Neuwirth, as the centerpiece of a evening exploring the transgender experiences and issues including marriage equality.
Built largely on a series of original footage and interviews of transgendered persons, their family and friends, and others who work with the transgender community, JUST GENDER explores the common myths and misunderstandings about transgender people, as well as the confusion between sexual orientation and gender identity as reflected in the rigid binary view of the world generally held by society. It reveals both the discrimination, hardships and brutality resulting from those misconceptions, but also the growing awareness and acceptance, and ultimately the individual joy in blossoming comfort as transgender individuals.
There will be a panel discussion about the film immediately after its screening.
JUST GENDER has screened to standing-room only audiences in 18 cities throughout the United States with all proceeds from each screening benefitting a nonprofit organizations. All proceeds will benefit Marriage Equality USA and its programs providing support to the LGBTQ community.
