René is senior manager of regulatory writing for FibroGen, Inc., a biotechnology company in San Francisco, where he leads a team of writers responsible for developing study protocols, submitting clinical study reports and submitting new drug applications. He attend Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the University of the Incarnate Word, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

René sings with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and serves as a Financial Assistance Network “Diva.” The Divas are a group of 7 individuals who raise money to specifically support SFGMC members who could not otherwise afford to be a part of the SFGMC family because of monthly dues, costumes, retreats, and travel expenses are provided assistance by this group.

René is also a former founding and board member of the Gay and Lesbian Artist Network, Chicago (GLANCe).
