Marriage Equality USA Joins "Marry Me in Seattle" Campaign

MEUSA to provide resources, wedding registries to couples who win sweepstakes for all-expense paid weddings in Seattle

Seattle/New York · 15 September 2014 - Marriage Equality USA (MEUSA) is excited to announce its partnership with Visit Seattle's Marry Me in Seattle campaign. Over the next few months, Visit Seattle and their partners will provide four lucky couples with hosted trips and weddings in the Emerald City, with additional resources and wedding registries provided by MEUSA. Couples can enter the sweepstakes and find more information at www.2DaysInSeattle.com/MarryMe.

"We wouldn’t have been able to create a campaign like this if it weren’t for the incredible work MEUSA has done to pave the way for marriage equality,” said Ali Daniels, Vice President of Marketing at Visit Seattle. “We are so proud that we can invite people to our state to get the wedding they want and deserve."

“What better way to celebrate love and marriage than to get married in one of the first states to pass marriage equality by popular vote,” said MEUSA Executive Director Brian Silva. “We are thrilled to partner with Visit Seattle and we look forward to seeing the lucky winners have their wedding dreams come true.”

“The winning couples will have the tremendous honor of having their marriages performed by Mayor Ed Murray, Seattle's first openly gay mayor,” noted MEUSA Board Member David Nguyen, a Seattle resident.

The campaign website features an essential Seattle LGBTQ marriage checklist that includes a link to Washington State’s marriage equality law (Referendum 74 which was passed by Washington voters in November 2012), information and links for marriage applications and licenses, and a list of LGBTQ officiants.

The website will also feature a wedding resource guide that includes more than 30 Seattle romance packages, transportation, wedding music and DJs, florists, photographers, venues, and catering companies. The site and resource list will be permanent and continuously-updated.
