Jason Scott
Jason became involved in the fight for equality during California’s Proposition 22 ballot initiative. The passage of this devastating initiative spurred him to join MECA in 2004. He has spent over a decade working towards full marriage equality with leading statewide and nationwide non-profit marriage equality organizations, and he continues to represent Marriage Equality USA in Fresno County. Jason began operating local LGBTIQ resource websites in December of 2000 and was instrumental in opening the Fresno LGBT Community Center in 2011. He continues his involvement in these endeavors as the president of Gay Central Valley. He is pictured at the left with Margaret Cho during a MEUSA fundraiser in Phoenix, AZ.
As a small business owner since 1999 Jason brings his years of fiscal responsibility, business skills and leadership to his role as chapter leader.

Lori Renee & Whitney Weddell
Whiney and Lori married in the Summer of 2008. They live in Bakersfield with their two pet rats. Whitney is a life-long resident of Bakersfield. She got involved in the local gay rights movement in the early 1980's, and has always believed that whatever is possible in Bakersfield (Kern County CA) is possible anywhere. Whit joined the forerunner to Marriage Equality USA, "MECA", in 2003, and has been active as a chapter leader, as well as the chair of the local LGBTIQ community group. Shortly after Lori and Whit became a couple Lori joined in with MEUSA leadership!

Josh Esteves
Before stepping up to chapter leadership, Josh was already the Co-Chair for the Valley Progressives in Modesto, Stanislaus County, CA. They have a large base of like-minded individuals and marriage equality is definitely one of the issues they care about. This is a special issue for Josh, personally, because he has gay friends and relatives. Josh is a straight ally and the father of two children, James (8) and Jake (5). Josh believes that his community is very understanding and supportive of the issue of marriage equality -- he likes to facilitate work among local groups and to coordinate events on this issue.
